Program Overview
Nation Builders is proud to announce the Emerging Leaders Program for Brussels and the greater metropolitan area. This program will prepare Belgium's emerging leaders to influence their, peers, government, and economy through a challenging and comprehensive one-year program. Fifty students who have demonstrated leadership skills in their community  will be selected for this opportunity. Those chosen for the program will work with youth from the United States to develop a technology that will help their respective countries achieve their United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Timeline
The program will start with online orientation sessions in February 2023. Members will then participate in a three-day, in-person training program in Brussels from April 29th to May 1st, 2023. After the training, participants will be given four months to develop a prototype for a technology that will help Belgium achieve its United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.  The students will then present their prototypes to  to U.S. Embassy officials and community stakeholders in a pitch competition in Brussels in October 2023. One team will be chosen to travel to the United States to present their ideas to U.S. officials.

Eligible Applicants
Eligible applicants are high school students who are residents of Brussels or the metropolitan area. Those selected for the program will be expected to participate in the online orientation sessions in February and attend the three-day in-person training conference from April 29 to May 1, 2023.

Selection Process

The application process will begin November 1, 2022 at 6:00 am CET and end January 31st, 2023 at 11:59 pm CET. The first stage of the process will be an online application, which can be found through a link at the bottom of this page. Those who pass the first stage will be invited to interview with our staff. If you are selected from the interview, your name will be submitted to the U.S. Embassy in Brussels for final approval. Upon approval, you will begin your journey as a Nation Builder.
